The 2026 Challenge: Conquer Those UFOs!

Finish that PhD (Project Half Done) & Win!

  • Select your project: Pick an unfinished canvas from your stash.
  • Register by February 10: Send an email to Programs@sdang.org with the subject PHD/UFO Challenge 2026. Include:
    • Name of the project/design and the designer.
    • Approximate date you started the piece.
    • The Before Photo: Attach a picture of the project in its current state.
    • The After Photo: Send a photo of your fully stitched project to Programs@SDANG.org with the subject I Met the 2026 Challenge.

Prizes: You will receive a UFO Charm and be entered into a raffle for one of three gift cards to your favorite Local Needlework Store!

2026 Theme: Stitching in Your Nest

  • Your Stitching Nest: Each month, we will feature a different member’s stitching “nest.” 
  • Capture Your Nest Take a photo of your creative space!
  • Email Your Submission Send your photo to website@sdang.org with the Subject My Stitching Nest. Include your name and short description of what we’re seeing.
  • Prizes: You can then claim your charm at the December Holiday party.

Member Recognition: The SDANG Charm Program

How to Earn Your 2026 Charms:

  • SDANG Events: Attend 10 or more SDANG events. 
  • Workshop & Programs: Complete any ANG-sponsored workshop or program project
  • UFO Challenge: Finish an UnFinished Object (UFO) and earn a charm. 
  • Stitching in Your Nest: Share a photo of your creative space! 
  • 2026 Seminar: A special commemorative charm for all members participating in the National ANG Seminar in Denver this year.

Sponsor a Stitch – Royal School of Needlework 

Our chapter is sponsoring a stitch for the Royal School of Needlework. We need to raise £300 ($410 US). The project will continue until we raise the needed funds. The first step is to decide which stitch we wish to sponsor. The choices are: 

Sienese
Tent Trammed (Beadwork)
Treble Leviathan
Sienese
Treble Leviathan
  1. Sienese – This stitch consists of parallel straight stitches, each of which is embellished with a detached buttonhole stitch. Together they form a wide textured line. Sienese can also be used as an isolated stitch.

  2. Tent Trammed (Beadwork) – This version of tent stitch is worked by threading a bead onto the working thread before making each stitch; once a length has been worked, the thread is taken through the beads to hold them firmly together.

  1. Treble Leviathan – Canvaswork stitch that forms a textured square rosette pattern. It is created by working sets of three angled stitches from each corner of a soiree into the center to form rosettes. The gaps between them are filled with upright cross stitches.
